If this were Jeopardy, the answer to that questions would have been either a) entertaining, or b) "Galaxy Quest", both being correct. Wow, what a surprise that was. If you're looking at the comercials for this Star Trek spoof and saying to yourself, "Gee, that totally looks stupid. I don't wanna go see that", then you're not alone. I too was among your number. But I said, what the hell, it's a good enough reason to get together with friends, and I ended up laughing my head off. It's a very funny movie, it's definitely one of those movies that has none of the funny parts in the comercials. Hopefully this will be a sleeper hit, because it totally deserves more press than it is getting (up until about three weeks ago, I had not even heard of it. Then I saw a billboard poster, and a TV comercial focusing on Sigourney Weaver's breasts, which I have to agree with all of the girls, yes, they are bigger than they should be on her. I'm not saying that's a bad thing though. Anyway, I'm sure that you're all aware of the premise, so I won't be ruining anything with this review. Tim Allen takes the helm as the "Captain Kirk" figure, with Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Daryl Mirchell, and Sam Rockwell playing his crew (well, actually, Rockwell plays one of the extras who died in episode 81. You'll have to watch the movie to understand, but it is hilarious). Anyway, the crew of "Galaxy Quest" is mistaken for real space heroes by the Thermanians, a peaceful race of aliens who need help against a real space threat. Now here's where the movie can take a good turn or a bad turn, because the whole mistaken identity thing has been done before, both with great results, and really, really, really bad results. This movie goes the former. Needless to say, you've probably seen this type of movie before, and you probably know more or less how this movie will end, but it's just done well. It's entertaining, you get a great laugh out of it, and it's worth the $7.50 for that alone (I was fortunate enough to have paid only $4.25 for a twilight showing, but I would pay the full price to see it again...well...I'd pay another $4.25 to see it again. But still, I'd go see it in a theater again). It's basically more of a situation comedy than a slapstick, so those of you who were put off by "Spaceballs", which I though was a good movie as well, this isn't the Mel Brooks type of comedy. So if you're a Trekkie, if you're not a Trekkie, if you don't even know what the hell a Trekkie is, go see this movie. It gets a solid A. It's a fun movie to watch. .
